Office of Professional Standards
 The Office of Professional Standards' goal is to ensure the integrity and professionalism of the Sheriff's Office. This goal is accomplished by:
Additional tasks and functions of the Office of Professional Standards include:

the registration and tracking of Sex Offenders within Anderson County

Records: This unit serves as the collection point for maintenance of all incident reports and other documents pertaining to criminal investigations. Quality assurance checks governed by mandated uniform crime reporting standards are conducted on all reports prior to their submittal to the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division.

administering the School Resource Officer program which ensures that the protection of Anderson County's children is a priority

aiding the establishment of Community Crime Watch Groups

acting as the liaison between community organizations and the Sheriff's Office by promoting community interaction

acting as the liaison for all auxiliary forces, including School Crossing Guards, Reserves, State Constables and Chaplains

overseeing all Information Technology for the Sheriff's Office and ensuring regulatory enforcement.

CALEA Accreditation
During 2006, the Sheriff's Office achieved its two-year goal and became nationally certified by the
Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies
(CALEA). The accreditation program administered by CALEA requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services. The Sheriff's Office met over 400 professional standards and was awarded certification in March 2007.
